The PEI Genealogical Society held a public meeting on Saturday, September 28th, 2019 at the Carriage House located at Beaconsfield Historic House in Charlottetown.
The guest speaker was Linda Libby speaking on “DNA – Challenges to its effective use as a Genealogical Tool.” Like many other current family researchers Linda is a relative ‘newbie’ to family history research having entered ‘through the DNA door’ only a few years ago. She soon learned that DNA can provide an effective way to connect to those who share ancestors. There are, however, some challenges in its use – from understanding the technology and jargon, to tantalizing matches who don’t respond to the potentially overwhelming number of matches.
