The PEI Genealogical Society held a well attended public meeting on Saturday, 22 February 2020 at the Carriage House located at Beaconsfield Historic House in Charlottetown.
2020 is the 300th anniversary of the founding of the colony of Île-Saint-Jean. In recognition of this significant event historian, author, and folklorist Georges Arsenault was guest speaker. His topic was “Place names and families of Île-Saint-Jean”. His talk was a trip back in time to the 1750s to discover some of the origins of Acadian community names and stories of some of the inhabitants.
This meeting was our annual activity in celebration of Heritage Week on Prince Edward Island.
