The November Meeting of the PEIGS was held 19 November 2022 at Macphail Homestead

The PEI Genealogical Society held its regular November public meeting on Saturday, 19 November 2022 at the Sir Andrew Macphail Homestead*, 271 McPhail Park Road, Vernon Bridge.

The Guest Speaker, John Flood, presented a talk titled: “Mystery Outcrop on the Selkirk Road, Latitude 46”

Mr. Flood spoke on the interest surrounding a particular geo-physical location deep in the woods on the Selkirk Road, whose significance is informed by the presence of an outcrop that bears an inscription of mysterious origin. Does it date back to the era of colonization, or even farther back in time to the era of the Vikings, or perhaps to prehistory? Or is it merely graffiti offered up by revellers in the last century? With the aid of photographs of the rock and its inscription, John discussed plausible interpretations offered to him over time by both specialists and passers-by.

A brief business meeting after Mr. Flood’s presentation.
