PEIGS Genealogy Fair 28 April 2018 Theme & Schedule

The PEIGS’s Second Annual Genealogy Fair was held on April 28, 2018. Approximately 90 people attended to hear the following list of speakers and visit the various resource tables, making it a very successful event. The Society wished to thank the many volunteers who made the day so successful. 

THEME – How Can You Ensure That Your Genealogy Will Outlast You?

Doors Open 9:30 a.m.   Closing 3:30 p.m.

10:30 – 11:00 “The Mildred Marion Stewart Story” – Mike Dixon

11:00 – 11:30 “Where Community and Family History Meet – Things You Can Do To Preserve Your Stories” – Dan McAskill features the communities of the Hillsborough River

11:30 – 12:00 PEI Genealogical Society Annual Meeting – open to all.

12:00 – 12:45 Lunch* / Networking/ Table Topics – delegates may visit Resource Tables (*While snacks will be available in the morning and the afternoon you are responsible for bringing your own lunch)

12:45 – 1:45 “Challenges of Inheriting a Large Collection” – Susan Leard

 1:45 – 2:15  Table Topics – delegates may visit Resource Tables

 2:15 – 2:45  “Donating Historical Objects” Lesley Caseley (PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation)

 2:45 – 3:15  “Taking Care: Ensuring your Important Family Material has a Future” – Jannah Toms and Claire Trainor (Archivists with PEI Public Archives and Records Office)

 3:15 – 3:30 Table Topics – delegates may visit Resource Tables; Evaluations and Wrap Up
