The annual 2020 PEI Genealogy Fair originally scheduled for May 2020 was postponed in the hopes we could hold it at a future date in 2020 or 2021. Regretfully, we have decided to place it on hold pending the passing of the Covid 19 Pandemic.
We will be adding RETURN OF THE FAIR details as they develop over the next month or year if need be. We hope to be back in 2022 if not before!
These were our thoughts as we chose the Theme:Who’s Your Mother – Finding The Women Of Your Past
“Ever wonder why it is so difficult to trace female ancestors? Why do they seem invisible?
Our women ancestors struggled and ‘fought’ for many rights over the past several centuries. It is due to this effort that we enjoy the rights we have today. From the suffrage movement, to the right to earn and retain earnings, to have a bank account, to working in professions once open only to men, to being declared persons under Canadian Law in 1929, we have a lot to be thankful for in honouring and celebrating the ‘women of our past’.
What mark did your female ancestors make? Researching the women in our family tree can be particularly challenging and 2021 PEI Genealogy Fair can help you with that! The location will be Charlottetown, an announcement confirming the venue will be made in the New Year.”
The day is for everyone interested in tracing their family history, from beginner to expert. Join us in this fantastic opportunity to learn and connect with others. Let’s pay tribute to the “Women of Your Past”!
